Clark completed coursework in speech communication at Northwestern University, and earned an Associate of Arts at Stephens College, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in speech communication from the University of Washington. Moreover, she served as President of the South of Market Chapter of Lions Club International in San Francisco, and as a member of the Easter Seal Society and the Public Relations Society of America. She sat on the Board of Directors of the National Society of Fundraising Executives, and she is a member of Alpha Delta Pi, the National Association of Professional Women, the International Women's Leadership Association, The American Authors Association and the Military Writers Society of America. In addition, Ms. Clark supports worthy causes such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

She is the former owner of the Travel Consultants Agency in San Francisco, the Hotel Leger in California's Gold Country, and the former director of University Relations at the University of California, San Francisco. In her spare time, Ms. Clark enjoys writing, reading and traveling.
